Creating Aterna® is an art in itself. We use the latest HPHT advanced rough processing to achieve a colorless, pure, unique mix of SiC and carbon that gives the Aterna® its incredible durability and spectacular sparkle. EXPERT CUTTING
Aterna® lab gems are crafted by hand by our master cutters, who are some of the best out there. A standard average diamond with an inferior cut leaks light from the bottom and sides. Too deep or too shallow a cut, and the light that gives a diamond its brilliance is lost. With Aterna®, this is never the case.
Our cutters superbly cut the Aterna® stones to Ideal/Excellent proportions, guaranteeing the highest light reflection entering the stone. With a perfectly symmetrical cut and increased surface area, the Aterna captures 100% of the light creating maximum brilliance and exceptional fire. This dedication to perfection takes twice as long to cut and polish the Aterna, and it's well worth it for these breathtaking works of art.
ATERNA® PASSES DIAMOND TESTS
Positive Diamond Testing
A diamond tester is a thermal conductivity meter that will detect the rate at which heat moves through stones and will tell you whether it is a diamond. Because of the high carbon content and similar heat signature, Aterna has tested positive on most diamond testers.
Passes Fog Test
Diamonds effectively conduct heat and therefore disperse heat quickly. If you place a stone in front of your mouth and fog it like you would a mirror, if it stays fogged for a couple of seconds, it’s most likely not a diamond. Aterna, like a diamond, disperses the heat from your breath instantaneously and won't fog up.
Passes Transparency Test
A diamond refracts light so intensely that you cannot see through it. If you’re able to read the letters of the newspaper—even if the letters are a bit blurry, its most likely not a diamond. Aterna's facets will refract and bend the light so sharply that you wouldn't be able to see the print, thus passing the transparency test.
